Pig Beach, Harbour Island
When visiting a tropical island there is really only so much beach lounging one can do. Many islands have recognized the hole in their tourism scheme and have started to offer excursions that offer a little more than the booze cruise or day sail away.
While Harbour Island, off the coast of Eleuthera, does offer one of the most picturesque beaches you've ever laid your eyes on with Pink Sand Beaches that stretch on for 3 miles, there are a few options for when you're ready to head off of the island.
One of the most prominent being the escape to Pig Beach off the coast of Spanish Wells. Pull your boat up to the beach and anchor it then wade onto the shore. There you will find a few momma pigs and her piglets that will eagerly greet you at the boat and follow your around until you feed them.
Food is provided for the pigs so please don't give them potato chips and beer but you're free to hang around with them for as long as you'd like. There are a few ducks and a turkey on the island but that's not where it is for me so I skipped that part!
It's a light, airy get away where you can live out all of your childhood Charlotte's Web fantasies.
